GAINING CONFIDENCE AND LEARNING TO SWIM WITH SWIMWAYS

Sharing is caring!

Summer is here! Now that we live in Florida it’s pretty crucial for my kids to learn how to swim considering the only way to beat the heat is to be in water! Last summer both kids took swimming lessons at the Y, but since a good amount of time has passed they needed to re-familiarize themselves. My kids love playing in water, bath tubs, water tables, shallow pools, but they lacked the confidence of being in a large pool without being held by us. It was really important to us, and one of our summer goals, to get them both comfortable and on their way to learning to swim along with learning some key survival tactics in the event of an emergency.

National Learn to Swim Day took place on May 20th this year and that was around the time the pool opened up! SwimWays was kind enough to send us their Step 2 Swim Sweater and Step 3 Power Swimr to help us in our mission. The Swim Sweater has UV protected sun sleeves and a round torso flotation attached. I love that they’re still able to have free range of their arm movements for properly learning to swim. The Power Swimr is a pretty awesome flotation device that provides “training wheels” for your little one. Inside are 9 removable floats to gradually adjust to their swimming capabilities, eventually weaning them off completely.

Since my kids have started using the SwimWays products they’ve really gained an enormous amount of confidence in the water. They really haven’t been a fan of cross-body flotation devices, but from day 1 of wearing these products you couldn’t keep them out of the water!

Gabriel loves tossing balls for Isabella to fetch in the water! Since they have free arm movement it’s much easier for them to throw and retrieve. Splashing everyone around the pool is obviously a blast too. LOL

Our son is taking swimming lessons but I like the idea of these for play until he is more proficient.

We are in the market for one of these for Parker! She took swim lessons at the Y too but prefers to be in our arms for floating in something. I think this would help her a lot!
